Immunology of autoimmune diseases, autoinflammatory diseases and other chronic inflammatory diseases in all organ systems

Chronic inflammatory diseases, including autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases, are a major focus of preclinical, translational and clinical immunologists at FAU. The respective research is carried out in a number of DFG-funded consortia:

  • Collaborative Research Center CRC 1181 “Checkpoints for Resolution of Inflammation”
  • Collaborative Research Center Transregio 241 “Immune-Epithelial Communication in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases”
  • Research Unit FOR 2886 „PANDORA: Pathways triggering Autoimmunity and Defining Onset of Early Rheumatoid Arthritis”
  • Clinical Research Unit KFO 5024 „Immune checkpoints of gut-brain communication in inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases“
